Quick Navigation Visual Basic 6.0 Programming Top How do you allow the user at run-time to enter parameters to filter a report in Crystal Reports version 4.6? In short they have been giving out this release with Visual Basic for ages and I can't believe that you have to hard code filters. Later versions of Crystal Reports are supposed to have the option to insert a parameter under the "Insert" menu at design time. The problem here is that I cannot figure out how to define these parameter fields in the design of the report. The Visual Basic Crystal Reports control contains an array of strings. You cannot see Param1 in the listing of fields in the query either. I the parameter was called "Param1" of type "Text" and was defined in the Access/Query/Parameter window, you would expect to be able to reference Param1 in Crystal Report's formula builder. Well duh! I want Crystal Reports to use this parameter to filter, but it doesn't acknowledge its existance until you try to preview the report. If I create a parameter into the report's query, which I created in Access, I get the following error in Crystal Report's "Preview" tab:

I need parameters! For example the user may only want a report on people with the last name of "Smith". The report runs great in displaying all records in the query, but I need to be able to filter the output according to user input. The tables and query used by this report stored in an Access 97 database. This is Crystal Reports version 4.6 the version that comes with VB6. I am using Visual Basic's Crystal Report control to display a crystal report.
